Maestro DAVIDE MASTRANGELO :  "COMPOSIZIONE E ADATTAMENTO PER CHITARRA ACUSTICA” 
Il corso affronta il tema della creatività attraverso l’analisi di alcune composizioni dei Maestri Storici della chitarra acustica ed esercizi, esempi, consigli e suggerimenti da parte del docente (tratti dal libro “Creative Fingerstyle Guitar” ed. Carisch). Obiettivo del corso è fornire i concetti base nel campo della composizione e dell’adattamento, per far si che lo studio della chitarra non risulti essere un mero atto tecnico-imitativo (necessario in fase di apprendimento) ma un mezzo per esprimersi. 

Maestro BEPPE GAMBETTA: “FLATPICKING GLOBALIZATION” Tecnica e creatività nella chitarra acustica a plettro combinando elementi della Roots Music americana ed europea. 
Il programma è un viaggio affascinante nel mondo del flatpicking visto dall’ampia prospettiva di Beppe Gambetta, italiano nel mondo con quasi trent’anni di esperienza on the road. Il programma si svolgerà toccando alcuni argomenti fondamentali del trattato di chitarra di Gambetta recentemente pubblicato dalla  Casa Editrice Carisch. 
Beppe racconterà come il viaggio, l’incontro e la ricerca di forme musicali dimenticate possano essere un motore fondamentale per la creatività, passando attraverso alcune delle più interessanti pagine del suo repertorio e la tecnica con cui si sono sviluppate. 

Maestro MIKE MARSHALL: “ THE WORLD OF MANDOLIN ” Approfondimenti sullo studio e uso dal vivo del mandolino 
Il seminario esplorerà le tecniche del mandolino, sia come strumento solista, sia come parte di una band acustica. Basandosi sull’esperienza di 35 anni di carriera, Mike approfondirà l’uso del mandolino in vari generi musicali, basandosi anche sui suoi libri “Great Book of Fingerbusters” e “Chord book”. 

Maestro JENS KRUGER: “I FONDAMENTALI DEL BANJO” 
Insieme al liutaio e titolare della Deering Banjo Company, Greg Deering, verranno esplorate le tecniche e gli stili musicali del banjo, utilizzando e dimostrando i vari modelli esistenti.

STEVE GILCHRIST inizia a sviluppare competenze musicali di riparazione e costruzione di strumenti mentre studiava Art & Design nella tarda adolescenza, sulla scia di un ricordo d'infanzia: un mandolino napoletano utilizzato come un giocattolo per scavare nel suo box di sabbia. Ispirato da un liutaio locale e con limitate informazioni che riusciva a carpire studiando le copertine degli album e i vecchi cataloghi di strumenti, inizia una carriera che lo porterà ad accettare un'offerta di lavoro da George Gruhn, rinomato collezionista e conoscitore di strumenti vintage, nel 1980. Dopo un anno completamente immerso nel restauro di strumenti e a contatto con molti musicisti di talento, la qualità del suo lavoro comincia a crescere rapidamente ed essere unanimemente riconosciuta, anche grazie all’apporto di clienti come David Grisman, Ronnie McCoury e Mike Compton. GREG DEERING deve la sua formazione e l’amore per i legni a suo padre, che all'età di due anni gli insegnò come costruire un modellino di aeroplano. I primi passi nel mondo del lavoro li muove presso l'American Dream Shop a Lemon Grove dove, intorno al 1969, costruisce il suo primo banjo proprio per una classe di falegnameria. La sua passione per il banjo lo porta ad esibirsi in molte chiese intorno alla zona di San Diego, dove riceve considerevoli apprezzamenti sul suo strumento. Le continue richieste da parte di molte persone che vogliono acquistare un banjo come il suo, lo convincono a  fare della costruzione dei banjo la sua vita. La Deering Banjo Company nasce quindi nel 1975, nella casa di famiglia Deering, ed è così cresciuta da essere oggi la più grande azienda produttrice di banjo nel mondo. Dalla sua nascita ha prodotto più di 50.000 banjo e annovera tra i suoi clienti, moltissimi tra i più grandi musicisti contemporanei: Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka, Jens Kruger, John Hartford, Doc Watson e molti altri sono i virtuosi che si esibiscono con il banjo Deering.

CARLOS ROBERTO MICHELUTTI nasce in Argentina ed inizia a studiare chitarra classica a 7 anni, avvicinandosi già da giovanissimo e da autodidatta anche alla liuteria e allo studio di strumenti, materiali e tecniche costruttive. Grazie ai suoi studi e ai suoi primi lavori si fa notare nell’ambiente musicale di Cordoba, dove comincia a fare restauri su ogni tipo di strumento a corda, soprattutto presso il conservatorio Felix T. Garzon, per cui costruisce e restaura strumenti dedicati allo svolgimento del metodo Suzuki. 
A 19 anni comincia a visitare spesso il Teatro Colòn di Buenos Aires e conosce il liutaio Alfredo Maglia da cui impara diversi segreti della liuteria classica. Trasferitosi in Italia, studia liuteria classica sotto l’insegnamento del M.° Spataffi e nel 1990 apre la Cordova Guitars nel suo laboratorio di Gubbio. Dal 2007 insegna nella scuola sperimentale “Arte e mestieri” di Ariano Irpino e si trasferisce con un nuovo laboratorio di liuteria a Cremona, dove produce strumenti a pizzico e arco dal genere classico e moderno. 
 

DAVIDE MASTRANGELO  è considerato uno dei principali riferimenti della didattica per chitarra acustica fingerstyle in Italia. Ha tenuto seminari e concerti con i più importanti nomi della chitarra acustica internazionale. Nel 2006 fonda il CentroStudiFingerstyle, primo centro italiano di perfezionamento per chitarra acustica con sede centrale ad Arezzo.

BEPPE GAMBETTA                è il più acclamato chitarrista acustico italiano all’estero e il più legato alle radici musicali americane. Maestro della tecnica flatpicking, ha esplorato profondamente il mondo del bluegrass e del folk, mettendo poi al servizio queste tecniche ad un genere di composizione propria, originale e moderna. In questo senso, e con arrangiamenti accattivanti, ha anche rielaborato brani della tradizione italiana e ligure in particolare, fornendoli di una nuova veste e facendoli apprezzare in tutto il mondo. 
Sia nelle performance, che lo portano continuamente a spostarsi nei vari continenti, sia nei seminari didattici è acclamato come maestro indiscusso della chitarra acustica contemporanea.

MIKE MARSHALL è un mandolinista e polistrumentista americano che ha caratterizzato la scena della musica acustica degli ultimi 30 anni,  facendo parte, fin dagli anni ’80, del gruppo di musicisti che ha fondato la “New Acoustic Music”. Ha inciso e suonato con David Grisman, Tony Rice, Mark O’Connor, Stephane Grappelli, Darol Anger, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Barbara Higbie, in una varietà di stili che hanno attraversato bluegrass, jazz, musica brasiliana, world music e musica classica. 
Virtuoso del mandolino, suona perfettamente anche chitarra e violino, fornendo, nella didattica, concetti basilari per la  tecnica e gli stili degli strumenti a corde e condividendo anche metodologie per la composizione moderna. 
Presente in concerto già altre volte nel nostro paese, porta per la prima volta in Italia in un seminario articolato e molto curato, la sua enorme esperienza nella musica acustica, regalando un’occasione di approfondimento irripetibile agli amanti degli strumenti a corde in genere. www.mikemarshall.net

JENS KRUGER si è iscritto alla “Deering Ricerca e Sviluppo” nel 2003, quando emigrò negli Stati Uniti dalla Svizzera ed ha lavorato a stretto contatto con Greg Deering nel portare avanti la progettazione e il tono dei Deering banjos, creando alcuni dei più bei banjos che siano mai stati prodotti dalla compagnia dal 1975 ad oggi. 
Ma Jens Kruger è soprattutto uno dei più grandi virtuosi suonatori di banjo al mondo, musicista che è stato introdotto nel mondo del bluegrass e indicato come il più grande banjista europeo nientemeno che dal grande Bill Monroe, padre del bluegrass, e che nella lunga carriera ha suonato con Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, John McEwen, Willie Nelson, Ricky Skaggs. Un vero maestro del banjo, capace di virtuosismi incredibili e padrone di una tecnica che metterà a disposizione nell’incontro didattico. 
Insieme al fratello chitarrista Uwe e al bassista Joel Landsberg ha dato vita al trio The Kruger Brothers, una delle formazioni più attive e più stimate del bluegrass contemporaneo. www.krugerbrothers.com

MASSIMO GATTI è considerato uno dei migliori mandolinisti europei e ha fondato una delle prime band bluegrass italiane "Bluegrass Stuff", ancora attiva, e con la quale si è esibito sui palchi di tutto il mondo. Profondo conoscitore delle tecniche del mandolino nella New Acoustic Music, è stimato da tutti i più grandi interpreti di questo strumento. Durante i seminari coordinerà le attività di Steve Gilchrist nel corso di liuteria e supporterà Mike Marshall nell'analisi delle tecniche esecutive sullo strumento, dialogando con lui e offrendo anche momenti di grande spettacolo. www.mandolin.it

ALESSIO AMBROSI è il Presidente dell'Associazione culturale "Armadillo Club" di Sarzana, da svariati anni operativa nel campo dell'organizzazione di eventi musicali di qualità. Together they will talk about how they are working on Research and Development to improve the tone of the banjo.

Master DAVID MASTRANGELO: "COMPOSITION AND ADAPTION FOR THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR" 
The course focuses on the theme of creativity through the analysis of the work of historical masters of the acoustic guitar and exercises, examples, tips and suggestions from the teacher (from the book "Creative Fingerstyle Guitar" published by Carisch). The course aims to provide basic concepts in the field of composition and adaptation, to ensure that the study of the guitar is not a mere technical-note imitation (necessary in the learning phase), but a means of expression. 

Master BEPPE GAMBETTA: "FLATPICKING GLOBALIZATION" Technique and creativity in acoustic guitar plectrum combining elements of European and American Roots Music. 
The program is a fascinating journey into the world of flatpicking viewed from the perspective of Beppe Gambetta, Italian in the world with nearly thirty years of experience on the road. The program will be covering some of the fundamental topics of guitar handling by Gambetta recently published by Carisch. 
Beppe tells how travel, meetings and research into forgotten musical forms could be a key driver for creativity, going through some of the most interesting pages of his repertoire and the techniques that have been developed. 

Master MIKE MARSHALL: “ THE WORLD OF MANDOLIN” In-depth look into the study and use of the Mandolin live 
The seminar will explore the techniques of the mandolin, both as a solo instrument and as part of an acoustic band. Based on 35 years of experience Mike will go in depth on the use of the mandolin in various styles of music, using his books “Great Book of Fingerbusters” e “Chord book”. 

Master JENS KRUGER: “THE BASICS OF THE BANJO” 
Together with the maker and owner of the Deering Banjo Company, Greg Deering, will explore the techniques and styles of banjo music, using and demonstrating the various existing models.

MANDOLIN BASICS 
Mike will give an overview of good basic mandolin technique. Starting with how to hold the instrument, proper positioning of the right and left hands and how to produce a good tone and still be relaxed while playing. He will show some simple old time fiddle tunes and classic Bluegrass instrumentals. 
He will also cover how to play good rhythm in a band and how to play backup fills and solo over a vocal tune and work with you on tremolo. Mike will then move into some easier swing tunes. Some of the basics of chord constructions will be introduced.

STEVE GILCHRIST, born in Warrnambool, Australia,  in 1955, will discuss and demonstrate his personal approach to building and adjusting the tonal qualities of the instrument. 
Following on from a childhood memory of a Neapolitan mandolin used as a toy for digging in the sandbox, drawing and hand skills developed into playing music, surfboard making and inevitably into repairing and building instruments while studying Art & Design in his late teens. 
Inspired by a local violin maker, and with limited information only available from album covers and old catalogue reprints, the instruments evolved slowly until accepting a job offer by George Gruhn in 1980. 
After a year of being immersed in vintage instrument restoration and exposure to many talented musicians, the quality of the work began to develop quickly with customers such as David Grisman, Ronnie McCoury and Mike Compton providing great inspiration to improve the tone, power and playability of the mandolins.

GREG DEERING started his training under his father at the age of two when his father showed him how to build a model airplane. By three years of age he was given a set of  tools that he used when working with his father for years to com e as he learned to craft model airplanes using only hand tools.He and his wife  Janet, started the Deering Banjo Company in 1975 working out of his home by designing and making any special equipment that he could not scrounge from the San Diego aircraft salvage yards. He personally designed and built the first banjos, made his own equipment and trained craftsmen in the art of banjo making. Now employing 32 people at the Deering Banjo Company in Spring Valley, California near San Diego, he is celebrating his 35th Anniversary in business.

CARLOS ROBERTO MICHELUTTI was born in Argentina and studied classical guitar at 7 years old, also learning lutherie and art of making string instruments. He started to be well known in Cordoba, where he began to restore old  instruments, guitars for the Suzuki method of study and to attend the local College of music. 
From the age of 19 he worked with the classical luthier Alfredo Maglia and learned many secrets of the lutherie, then he transferred his laboratory and life in Italy, opening the Cordova Guitars Company, which produces very fine acoustic and electric guitars, together with other string instruments. The laboratory was first in Gubbio and now in Cremona. 
He is one of the most famous modern luthier in Italy and will lead a seminar, open to luthiers and to people, concerning the setting of the acoustic guitars for the best playing. 
 

DAVIDE MASTRANGELO is the founder and director of the Fingerstyle Centre of Study in Bibbiena (Arezzo) and for many years teacher at the LIZARD Guitar Academy in Fiesole. Together with Giovanni Untenberger he has written the two volumes of “ Scuola di Chitarra Acustica” (published by BMG/Ricordi) and after that he pubblished many other guitar didactic books, edited by Carisch. He holds guitar methodology workshops regularly throughout Italy and is considered as a landmark figure for the young Italian guitar students in the performance preparation stage. BEPPE GAMBETTA is the most famous italian acoustic guitarist all over the world, the closest one to the american roots music. MIKE MARSHALL is one of the world’s most accomplished and versatile string instrumentalists in American today. JENS KRUGER is the most important collaborator of Greg Deering in the development of the modern banjo. Together they have built the best banjos of the last years. Jens spent all his life studing banjo techniques and travelling all over the world to play bluegrass with his brother Uwe and together they founded The Kruger Brothers, one of the best and fomous bluegrass band in the world. In the '80s he met the master Bill Monroe and by him was introducted in the american bluegrass scene as the best european banjo player. MASSIMO GATTI is considered onr of the best european mandolinist and he founded the oldest italian bluegrass band, The Bluegrass Stuff, still active, and touring all over the world.  He deeply knows all the techniques of the mandolin playing in the New Acoustic Music and is well known and loved by all the most famous mandolin players. He will coordinate the activities during the mandolin making lessons of Steve Gilchrist and will help Mike Marshall in the study of the techniques of mandolin playing,  also offering performances during the course. www.mandolin.it
